This campaign has been my heart for months. A National NHS Railcard could ease commuting costs, help with staff retention, and give thousands of NHS workers and students some relief during the cost-of-living crisis. Everyone I’ve spoken to says it makes sense — yet, signatures are not growing as they should.
I do now have a little support from within the RCN, but the truth is that unions won’t take this forward officially because it isn’t only about nurses. And once again, the message is not spreading widely enough. I feel exhausted. I feel like our workforce has given up on trying to change things for ourselves.
I want to thank every single person who has signed and shared — you mean the world to me. I am still trying, I will keep pushing, but at this stage I can’t promise an outcome. Please help me give this one last push: sign, share, and speak up.
