Create a fine line between North and South Jersey

Create a fine line between North and South Jersey
The Issue
Growing up in Cape May County, I've always cherished the unique lifestyle, values, and community spirit that define South Jersey. However, as our state continually evolves, a noticeable divide between the northern and southern parts of New Jersey has become increasingly evident. North Jersey and South Jersey hold distinct and contrasting values, morals, and perspectives, underscoring the necessity of creating a fine line between these regions to better serve their residents.
The notion of a unified New Jersey is becoming more of a myth than reality. North Jersey’s decisions, influenced by proximity to major metropolitan areas like New York City, often overshadow the distinct needs and cultural nuances of South Jersey communities. The recent discussions about New Jersey becoming a sanctuary state add to the growing list of decisions that do not reflect the will of South Jersey's residents. Living here, I see firsthand how such policies widen the cultural and political rift, and it’s a sentiment shared by many in my community.
To address this growing disparity, we propose the establishment of a clear, fine line separating North and South Jersey counties, paving the way for a potential secession of South Jersey. This would allow South Jersey to become the 51st state of the United States of America, making it possible for our communities to self-govern and uphold our values and principles more effectively.
Secession is no small feat; it's a complex process that requires thorough consideration and support. By forming a new state, South Jerseyans would gain the autonomy needed to enact laws and develop policies that align closely with our South Jersey values, which include different economic priorities, cultural aspects, and community needs.
Historical precedents, such as the formation of West Virginia during the Civil War, show us that by respecting regional differences and prioritizing local governance, our communities can thrive. Emerging as the 51st state would empower South Jersey to forge a path reflecting its identity, free from the imposing influences of North Jersey.
We urge our fellow New Jersey citizens who resonate with this vision, as well as policymakers and influential leaders, to seriously consider this initiative. By supporting the separation, you're advocating for regional representation, distinct economic policies, and governance that resonates with the specific values and ideals of South Jersey. I do not want to run from my home to another state. This is an amazing area to raise a life and I want to keep it that way!
Please sign this petition to call for the establishment of a fine line between North and South Jersey counties and support the move towards South Jersey’s journey as the 51st state of the USA.
