Rebecca Michelle "Mikie" Sherrill, born in 1972, is a distinguished American politician and attorney, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 11th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Sherrill was first elected to Congress in 2018 and has been reelected in subsequent elections. She is actively seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor of New Jersey. Before her political career, Sherrill served as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and a federal prosecutor. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the United States Naval Academy, a Certificate in Arabic Language from the American University in Cairo, a JD from Georgetown University, and a Master's in Global History from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her professional background includes roles as a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and an Assistant U.S. Attorney.
