Jefferson H. Van Drew is an American politician currently serving as the U.S. representative for New Jersey's 2nd congressional district, a position he has held since 2019. Originally a Democrat, Van Drew switched to the Republican Party in 2020. His political career began with his tenure as an Assemblymember in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2002 to 2008. He then served as a State Senator for New Jersey from 2008 to 2018 and briefly again from 2016 to 2019. Van Drew's local government experience includes serving as Mayor of Dennis Township. In addition to his political career, he is a small business owner and a dentist. Van Drew holds a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University-New Brunswick and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
