A few weeks ago, I made an offhand joke on Instagram about wanting a movie where Bill Hader and Michael Shannon play brothers. The fine folks of the world wide web seemed to like it, and gave it thousands of likes. Somewhere along the way I said that if my comment generated 5,000 likes I would try to get the movie made. Against my better judgment—and in full commitment to the bit—I’m now petitioning for the movie to exist.

Here’s the pitch:

Bill Hader brings the anxious, deadpan comedy.

Michael Shannon brings the barely-contained, vein-popping intensity.

Put them together as estranged brothers forced into a chaotic, darkly funny situation, and you have a film that practically writes itself. The chemistry would be electric, and the internet clearly wants it. Would it be groundbreaking? Would it be unlike anything we've ever seen before? Let's be real, probably not, but wouldn't you like to see it anyway? Wouldn't you like to say you took part in this weird social experiment?

I’m not a producer. I don’t have a studio. I barely expected the joke to get noticed. But a promise is a promise.
