19-year old Zach Anderson, while perusing a social hookup site, met a girl. Like many other men, he decided to talk and flirt with the girl, who told him she was 17 years old. Eventually, the two agreed to meet and they wound up having sex.  The girl's mother, fearing she was missing, called the police. Two months later, Zach Anderson was arrested for having sex with a minor. The girl lied; she was only 14. 

Despite admitting to police that she lied to Zach, and falsely registered as an adult on the website where she and Zach met, the poor young man was convicted, and will be forced to register as a level 4 sex offender for 25 years, essentially ruining his life forever. Even the mother of the "victim" took the stand to apologize to Zach, and admitted on the stand that he is absolutely not a predator, and should not be punished for his actions. Yet the Judge made the decision to go forward with the conviction, because he apparently finds the hookup culture disgusting. 

Essentially, what we have here is a young man who was lied to, taken advantage of, and made an example of, because a judge personally disagrees with a lifestyle of casual sex--a lifestyle Zach wasn't even a part of; the young girl was only his second sexual partner. 

Because of the mandatory 5 year probation period given to level 4 offenders, Zach will be not be allowed to use a smartphone, surf the web, be out past 8pm, or even speak to anyone under the age of 17 until he is 24 years old. 

This is outrageous, unfair, and sets a dangerous precedent in which young men can be horribly taken advantage of by young girls. Please sign this petition to bring awareness to Zach's case, and let's get him a fair appeal with a less biased judge so we can save his future.
