Pickleball is the fastest growing senior sport with over 50 players just in our San Diego District 6 neighboring areas.  We don’t have any designated courts and we aren’t allowed to use temporary sidewalk chalk for public tennis courts at the Recreation Centers. We constantly are having to rechalk neighborhood tennis courts which don’t have bathroom facilities.  Plus we accommodate 16-24 pickleball players on one tennis court in a 3 hour period whereas 2 tennis players take up the entire court and they are far and few between.  I’m not sure why we can’t share public tennis courts at our local Recreation Centers but this issue needs to be addressed immediately.  

We ask that we be allowed to have tennis courts properly lined by the city Recreation Centers which are close to bathrooms as soon as possible.  Also please consider the request for dedicated pickleball courts in the very near future to accommodate the thousands of players most of which are seniors but an ever growing population of all ages.  Not to mention they are starting to teach pickleball in public schools.
