Lincoln Premium Poultry in Fremont, Nebraska, was just named one of the "Most Contaminated Poultry Plants in the United States" by Consumer Reports. Lincoln Premium is Costco's poultry supplier. 

Consumers trust Costco to uphold the highest food safety standards, yet continued association with this facility endangers public health and contradicts Costco’s commitment to quality and safety.

Lincoln Premium Poultry was included in a list of 56 plants located in 22 different states that had above-average Salmonella contamination risks for at least six months. Salmonella is a serious foodborne pathogen that can cause severe illness, hospitalizations, and even fatalities, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Beyond food safety concerns, Lincoln Premium Poultry has faced scrutiny over its treatment of animals and working conditions. Ethical sourcing matters to Costco members, and the company must take decisive action to distance itself from suppliers that fail to meet basic safety and welfare standards.
