Hi TCE supporters and Coppell friends,

As always, I want to keep updates limited and respect everyone’s time. Today’s update qualifies as a meaningful one: the candidate slate is now set for the 2026 CISD Board election.

School board leadership matters — especially as CISD continues to navigate enrollment, budgeting, staffing, and long-term planning decisions.

📍 CISD Board Seats on the Ballot

Place 4

  • Ranna Raval (Uncontested – renewing her term) 🔗 Candidate info: Ranna Raval

Ranna voted against the proposal to close Town Center Elementary last year. Throughout that process, she demonstrated thoughtful deliberation, active engagement, and a willingness to evaluate the issue from multiple angles — always focused on what was best for students, educators, and the long-term health of Coppell ISD, not a single data point.

We congratulate Ranna and look forward to continued partnership during her next term.

Place 5 - (Seat vacated by current Board President David Caviness, who has chosen not to run again)

Candidates:

Kevin Chaka

  • Member of the Coppell ISD Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS) Advisory Council
  • Currently serves in an advisory capacity to the CISD Board and administration
  • Played an active role during last year’s Save TCE effort.  Attended board meetings consistently and contributed ideas rooted in his financial background, particularly around resource allocation during challenging budget conditions.

Carly Waters

🔗 Campaign website: Coming soon

  • Current Parliamentarian of the Town Center Elementary PTO

We did not have direct exposure to Carly during last year’s Save TCE effort, and we look forward to learning more about her ideas for CISD and for TCE. We are encouraged to see additional candidates from North Coppell stepping forward to serve.

Khanh Windham

🔗 Campaign website: Coming soon

  • Current PTO President at Canyon Ranch Elementary

We have limited familiarity with Irving-area schools and are interested in hearing more about Khanh’s perspective, priorities, and vision for CISD as a whole.

🤔 What This Means for All of Us

  • If you believe thoughtful change and strong governance are needed to protect academic excellence and strengthen support for students and educators, this election matters.
  • CISD will continue facing structural cost decisions, enrollment challenges, and strategic trade-offs — we need critical thinkers on the Board to guide that work.
  • Ultimately, what candidates do matters more than what they say. Let’s stay focused on kids, not politics.
