Dear Coppell Community,
💡 Welcome to our “Did You Know?” series!
As we approach the final week before the October 27 CISD Board vote, we’ll be sharing short, fact-based updates to help our community understand what’s happening behind the scenes — and why it matters.
Our goal isn’t to fight Coppell ISD or the Board.
Our goal is to ensure a data-driven, transparent, and future-focused process that protects the long-term trust and vitality of Coppell ISD.
⚖️ Delayed Vote ≠ Due Process
The vote delay was a positive first step — it happened because of your engagement. But let’s be clear: a delayed vote doesn’t automatically mean a fair or complete review.
Here’s where things stand 👇
✅ What We’ve Accomplished
- 🗓️ The board delayed the vote by 2–3 weeks.
- 👩💼 Dr. Shivers now fully owns both the process and the outcome.
⚠️ What We Still Don’t Have
- ❌ No commitment that additional options will be presented on Oct 27.
- 🤷♂️ No new board members have shifted positions — still roughly 3 vs. 4.
- 🙈 No clear sign the CISD plans to revisit alternatives, even after all the community 1-1 meetings.
- 🗣️ No guarantee CISD will use community recommendations.
🧭 What This Means
The current path risks looking like a predetermined decision, not a transparent process.
We believe Coppell deserves better — a comprehensive plan that strengthens all schools and positions CISD for long-term financial and educational success.
💪 What You Can Do
✅ Keep the energy up — contact Board members, Dr. Shivers, and city leaders.
✅ Ask for data transparency and multiple options before Oct 27.
✅ Share our updates and help your neighbors understand what’s at stake.
Together, we’ve already proven the power of community.
Now, we need to finish what we started — by demanding integrity, data, and a process we can all stand behind.
Stay tuned for our next “Did You Know?” update — where we’ll dig into the confusing data behind the “RUBRIC.”
