Dear Coppell Community,

👏 Thank you, Coppell!
More than 1,700 residents have come together with one voice for transparency, data-driven decisions, and collaboration. Because of your engagement, CISD leadership and the Board of Trustees have now agreed to pause and gather more data before making any final decision. That is progress — and it shows the power of community engagement done right.

🔍 What Happened at the Oct 6 Meeting

The Board asked the CISD administration to deliver a more comprehensive analysis by the Oct 27 board meeting.
Here’s what’s next:

1️. Gather & Present More Data and Options
• Updated enrollment projections (5–10 year outlook)
• Pros and cons for all five elementary schools previously considered for closure
• Heat maps of student residences (by age 0–4 and 5–11)
• Budget impacts of closing vs. not closing a school
• Updated boundary and map scenarios

2️. Align With CISD’s Strategic Plan & Budget Priorities
Ensuring any decision fits the district’s goals for staff support, class sizes, and academic programs.

3️. Clarify Board Guiding Principles
Defining the values and criteria that should drive any facilities decisions going forward — so the process is clear to everyone.

4️. Launch the “Cowboys United” Retention & Recruitment Initiative
Data-driven outreach to retain and attract families back to CISD, supported by marketing and metrics to measure success.

💡 Community-Driven Long-Term Ideas

In parallel, residents have suggested long-range actions for 2025-26:

💬 Enrollment Policy Updates – Expand limited open enrollment
🏫 Property & Facilities Planning – Reconvene the district committee to evaluate use, sale, or repurposing of any facilities.
🗣️ Community Engagement – Focus groups, listening sessions, and summits under the Cowboys United initiative.
📊 Continuous Reporting – Regular progress updates to the Board and the community.

🤝 What We Can Do Together Now

✅ Keep communicating — meet with Board Members and Dr. Shivers to share ideas and encourage open dialogue.
Sign up for District Committees and help build a transparent, data-driven CISD.
✅ Stay respectful and constructive — our shared goal is a stronger district, better process, and trusted leadership.

📅 Next Milestone: Oct 27 Board Meeting @ 6pm, CISD Admin Building (200 S. Denton Tap Rd)

Let’s show up again to support the call for a complete and fact-based decision.
Every voice matters. Every conversation counts.

Together, we’re proving that a community built on respect, facts, and collaboration can drive lasting change for Coppell ISD and our students.
