This petition is important because there are over 300,000 students have come a long way to finish his/her degree, to be left without help and or funding. A majority of the 300,000 students will not able to fund their way to their Associates/Bachelors degree.  When this new Federal Pell Grant guidelines take effect July 1, 2012 for the 2012-2013 year, they will be left out.  Finishing the degree at hand can help students move forward to becoming a more productive citizen and taxpayers.

This law should not apply to students that have already received 6 years of funding.  Pell should be reinstated to allow students to finish the degree that the student is closest to obtaining, Associates, or Bachelors, No matter what they have previously earned or used in funding.
