The scenic Grand Pacific Drive in Bulli, New South Wales, is an iconic route known for its breathtaking coastal views. However, this stunning road is marred by the safety risks presented to pedestrians and cyclists due to the incomplete active transport and pedestrian link/shared / footpath, between O’Brien and Southview Streets ,   and lack of the 1952 planned Bulli Bypass , making it the only alternate route from the congested  Princes  Highway .

Additionally, the absence of effective traffic calming measures along the Streets mentioned ,    exacerbates these safety concerns, putting the lives of locals , and tourists alike in jeopardy.

The community of Bulli and visitors to the area have long advocated to complete the  footpath on Point Street that ensures safe passage for all. The current conditions force pedestrians and cyclists to share road space with fast-moving vehicles, elevating the risk of accidents. According to New South Wales road safety statistics, pedestrian and cyclist incidents are significantly higher in areas lacking proper infrastructure and traffic management.

If there is no path , Real traffic calming measures, such as speed humps, raised crossings along Point Street and the beach roads can drastically reduce vehicle speeds, further ensuring safety. These solutions are not only feasible but necessary in creating a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone who uses this picturesque drive.

A completed footpath on Point Streets  missing link , and effective traffic calming on Grand Pacific Drive , along Point Street , Blackall Street  and Trinity  Row , would provide numerous benefits, including reducing the risk of accidents, encouraging active transport to the Schools  and Beaches , and enhancing the overall tourist experience. It would also align with New South Wales’ commitment to road safety,  sustainable transport and Towards  zero .

By signing this petition, you are urging the relevant authorities in Bulli and New South Wales to prioritise  this over upgrading  existing paths , to  allocate resources and prioritise the completion of the active transport link and implementation of real traffic calming measures, before the pending developments and density are constructed . Together, we can create a safer and more enjoyable Grand Pacific Drive for all.
