We are parents and residents of the community of Preysal Village, Couva. For the last six years, we have been without a primary school. Our children have been housed in a community centre that has come with many challenges - sewer problems, cramped classrooms, unsafe perimeter fences and more. This situation is not conducive to learning or growth for our young ones who deserve better.

The lack of a proper educational facility has put our children at risk and compromised their education quality. According to UNICEF, every child has the right to an education in an environment safe from violence, abuse, harassment and bullying (UNICEF). However, our current circumstances do not meet these standards.

Our plea is simple yet urgent - we implore our government to complete the construction of Preysal Government Primary School. It's time for us to provide a secure and conducive learning environment for our children – they are indeed our future.
