Compel Dreamworks to Reanimate Shrek 5

The Issue

As a passionate fan of Shrek, the early 2000's renaissance of 3D animation was an era that completely captivated my heart. It is disheartening to witness that the potential to uphold this legacy may be tarnished with the news of Shrek 5. Our forever adored, foul-mouthed ogre deserves better.

The original Shrek, released in 2001, was one of the most groundbreaking animations and significantly contributed to the growth of 3D animation. It even earned the first-ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature that year. This, alongside the following sequels, gave birth to an iconic franchise cherished by millions worldwide and represented the pinnacle of Dreamworks' creativity.

However, the currently proposed version of Shrek 5 falls short of the remarkable standards set by the original series. The passionate Shrek fan community and I believe Dreamworks unknowingly is poised to dismantle the high bar that this franchise set with this version.

To prevent the potential loss of a unique cinematic legacy, we urge Dreamworks to revisit their decision and reanimate Shrek 5 to maintain the charm and quality that captured our hearts two decades ago. A loyal fandom awaiting a worthy sequel to their beloved franchise deserves this much.

Your signature can send an influential message to Dreamworks—it's time to revisit the drafting table for Shrek 5. Introduction of a suitable sequel will not only preserve the legacy but also potentially hoist Dreamworks' reputation for future projects. We exhort Dreamworks to favour quality over haste—don't let our favourite ogre down with a subpar sequel. Please sign this petition now—help us reinstate the splendour of the original Shrek franchise.
