Community Service for Non-Violent Criminals

Community Service for Non-Violent Criminals

The Issue

Help give non-violent individuals an opportunity to do community service for parole in the United States.

Each year our federal system dishes out between $18,000-$47,000 for the incarceration of each criminal in the United States.  There are over 2 million people housed in our jail systems today.  This means that the tax payer pays over 36 Billion dollars a year for the support of criminals.  There are three times as many non-violent criminals than violent.  Non-violent criminals offer no real threat to the safety of Americans.

If non-violent criminals in the U.S. were given an opportunity for community service, even if they received a minimal pay for support of their services and parole, the taxpayers can be saving over 24 Billion dollars a year.  Not to mention, the added bodies in the economy can be bringing in revenue to state and federal, from the taxes they pay.

Help give non-violent individuals an opportunity to do community service for parole in the United States.
