Why this petition matters

Started by malystryx freedom

Comcast has placed a monthly data cap of 1TB on broadband internet.  If you use more than the included 1TB than you are charged $10 for every GB you use beyond the cap.  Comcast charges an extra $50 a month on top of the normal monthly rate to remove the cap.

This terabyte cap is an arbitrary number that Comcast made up in order to likely find a way to make more money from their customers.  This is gross behavior and should be stopped immediately.  There is no evidence to support that it's necessary to have data caps in any way.

When Comcast has been questioned about this data cap in the past their response was that most people don't use that much data anyway.  However, this is not true!

Today, over 60% of Americans are gamers.  On average, triple A games consume 50GB of data to install.  Call of Duty Black Ops 4 for example consumes nearly 150GB of data just to install.  This is not to mention the data cost for 4k Netflix or any other streaming services used on a daily basis.

It's time for us to stand together and sign this petition to request that Comcast remove the data cap and stop penalizing customers for using a service that should be available to everyone for free to begin with.  Long live internet freedom!
