I remember the good old days back in 2007 and 2008 when I used to watch the shows on the G4 channel like Attack of the Show, X-Play, Ninja Warrior(Japanese version), and Code Monkeys XD. I was about 8 at that time and I didn't have any gaming console, except for the Gameboy Advance SP, until the Christmas of 2008, when I got a PS2! I was so happy that day.
I remember watching X-Play and watching all the cool game reviews like Ninja Gaiden ll, God of War 3, Gears of War 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. When I didn't have any game consoles, I would play make-believe with a VHS tape, some string, and a shoe box.
I would pretend that the VHS tape was the controller. I would attach one end of the string to the VHS tape and the other end to the shoe box, which was supposed to be the console. I would go on Spectrum On-Demand, go to G4, click on a game playthrough, and act like I was actually playing the game XD
