Colorado Springs to Invest in Sidewalks and Pedestrian Crosswalk

The Issue

As residents of Colorado Springs, we take pride in our neighborhood and growing community. We enjoy supporting our local businesses like JAKs, Ziggi's Rita's, and Zapata that add to the unique character of our neighborhood. Unfortunately, our daily activities and patronage to these establishments place us in near-collision situations with passing vehicles. The absence of a suitable sidewalk along Dublin Boulevard between Markshuffel Road and Peterson Road has left us vulnerable and unsafe.

Far too often, we bear witness to an alarming number of pedestrian near-misses. Our friends and families face danger every time they try to access these businesses without a suitable sidewalk or crosswalk. This community deserves more. It deserves safe and secure pedestrian infrastructure to walk along and cross Dublin Boulevard safely.

That's why we're calling on our city, Colorado Springs, to protect its people. We urgently need the city to invest in the development of our area and install a suitable sidewalk on the north side of Dublin Boulevard between Peterson Road and Markshuffel Road, and on the south side between Mustang Rim Drive and Markshuffle Road, and a pedestrian crosswalk with flashing lights across Dublin Boulevard at Issaquah Drive. Sidewalks and crosswalks have demonstrated reduction of pedestrian crashes by 88% at the marked locations (NACTO). A safer community uplifts public health, boosts local businesses, and fosters a stronger sense of belonging.

Colorado Springs, it's time you invested in the safety of the people who make this city so vibrant and in the prosperity of local businesses by providing secure access. Please support our petition for the betterment of our neighborhood, and by extension, our great city. Create this change by signing this essential petition today. Let's make our neighborhood walkable!
