The Issue

A Denver family is suing Roblox and Meta after their developmentally disabled teenage daughter was allegedly groomed and sexually exploited by a predator on both platforms. The lawsuit says that even though Roblox marketed itself as safe and educational, its weak safeguards allowed a known predator to target this child right here in Colorado. Instagram—owned by Meta—then became a second tool of abuse.

The teen suffered life-changing trauma, multiple hospitalizations, and even attempted suicide. Her family is now courageously speaking out to hold these tech giants accountable—not just for what happened to their daughter, but to protect other kids across our state.

As Coloradans, we have a responsibility to act. This family trusted that a supervised, so-called “safe” platform wouldn’t become a pipeline for abuse. But Roblox and Meta failed them, just as they’ve failed so many others.

We are calling on:

  • Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser to investigate whether these companies violated state consumer protection or child safety laws;
  • Colorado’s state legislators to hold hearings and consider platform accountability legislation;
  • And Roblox CEO David Baszucki and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to issue a public apology and immediately implement stronger safeguards.

No more vague promises. No more passing the blame. If these platforms want to operate in Colorado, they must put child safety before profit.

This is not just a tech issue. It’s a Colorado issue—and every parent, teacher, and neighbor should be outraged.

Sign this petition to stand with this Denver family and demand real change from Roblox, Meta, and our own state leaders.
