Engineering colleges are attended by students living in various regions of the country. In these uncertain times, with the colleges opening and closing so frequently, it is unjust to force students to attend classes physically, as they have to move back and forth each time the college closes or opens. Some students find it difficult to purchase tickets and often have to pay very high prices. Many students have family members who are ill and need to be cared for as seeking help from outside increases the risk of COVID infection, which continues to be deadly in the elderly. Moving away from home to attend college classes prevents students from caring for their families. Thus, it is important that the colleges be opened in hybrid mode so that students have a choice to attend classes in a mode that is suitable to their circumstances and they are not forced to abandon their families or suffer huge financial losses to attend classes physically. We request Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Smt. Mamata Banerjee, the Government of West Bengal,  and the college authorities kindly consider the points mentioned above and open the Engineering colleges in hybrid mode. If the college is unable to make necessary arrangements to set up a class in hybrid mode, students may be asked to make the setup in their classroom.
