As many of you may know, Manassas Park High School will have a graduation for the Class of 2020 on July 25. However, this graduation will be held separately for individual students in the gym.

By July 25, Virginia would already be in phase 3 of reopening which means a traditional graduation with proper social distancing would  be achievable. There have been many other graduations that have successfully been done outdoors with spaced seating and limited tickets.

The Class of 2020 has lost so much due to the pandemic and the thought of having a graduation where their closest friends and teachers can’t support them is heartbreaking. They have been looking forward to this moment since the beginning and closing their high school journey needs great recognition. Class of 2020 deserves a true graduation, not an isolated graduation.
