Overnight Parking Restrictions in North York Need to Change!

Residents in most of Toronto can park on their streets overnight, ALL YEAR ROUND. The  “FORMER” City of North York by-law 30662, OUTLAWS parking on city streets from 2-6 am, from December 1 to March 31. 

This by-law was originally enacted to allow snow ploughs in North York to clear the streets specifically between 2 and 6 am. Yet today, North York is integrated with Toronto and snow cleaning is done on a 24-hour basis.

If you live in the former City of North York, you know how frustrating it is to have to squeeze all your cars on to your driveway in the middle of a snowstorm. If you have a guest’s car to park, tough luck!

For eight months of the year, it's OK to park on the street overnight in North York. But not in the winter, when we need to the most. This by-law is discriminatory, creates difficulties in many situations, is onerous for those affected and is really unpopular.
