The Obama administration is pushing school districts to ensure that school discipline is being handled by trained educators, not by law enforcement officers – the most recent in a series of efforts to curb the school-to-prison pipeline.  

We are demanding that the process of removing them begin now! In our communities the increased  awareness of the murder of unarmed children and their parents is creating more trauma for families targeted by Law Enforcement Agencies. In Multnomah County this issue gets worse when we see the relationship of community policing and the over representation of youth in our prisons.   Stop this NOW! We demand an immediate conference with community and an established timeline from officials on how this process can be completed.  We expect that the 2017/2018 school year will be the goal for removing them from our campuses starting with elementary and high schools around the Portland and Gresham Areas!
