We, the Citizens of Port Alberni, need a permanent, working solution to the growing problem of homelessness, drug addiction, theft, property crime and tax dollar drain of our small town's residential neighborhood.  Our families and businesses are not safe or family friendly, yet millions of our tax dollars are spent catering to the issue instead of solving it.  It is no wonder the problem has only grown in the past few years, right before our eyes.

We propose the building of a new "Safe Community", located away from our children and family residential neighborhoods, but within the regional district.  The "Safe Community" can provide housing, meals, treatment and a safe injection site to those in need, without having any negative impact on our family neighborhoods.  Our own, out-of-town "Safe Community" can also create local jobs by allowing other neighboring towns to admit their own citizens in need, with only a positive economic impact to all concerned.

Our community will grow stronger and healthier the moment we remove these people from harm's way and our streets, and provide them with much needed services in a detached, easy to manage environment.  Let your voice be heard by signing this petition!
