3rd Solar Carport Info Meeting Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. Hamilton Community Center 503 Palm Drive (across from Beso) The City of Novato will be holding a 3rd community information meeting with the City Council subcommittee (Mayor Pat Eklund and Councilmember Eric Lucan) and the Novato Public Works department to review the documents they presented in April. I have posted the documents on the public page of the Hamilton Field of Marin Association's website. www.hamiltonfield.org. Those documents include a PowerPoint presentation with photoshop examples of mitigation of the existing Solar Carport, including paint color, tree additions, and changing the pitch of the carport to a flat style. A second document is a financial grid of the costs of the various options and the "opportunity cost" of not doing the options. Please review the documents and bring your questions to the meeting. There were several questions about the cost grid at the last meeting. These included: 1. The numbers were not adjusted for Net Present Value (the cost in today's dollars) as they were in the grid presented to Council when the project was approved, further inflating the savings over 25 years. 2. Option 6 to relocate the project to the upper pool parking lot has an extremely high cost for trenching for electrical to the pool site. Some neighbors pointed out that there are electrical lines or other existing electrical already on site. Public works could not confirm this. 3. Option 3 calls for the a relocation to the Hamilton Pool Site #9. this is actually the hillside above the current Solar Carport location and would be a ground mount system. It is not in the upper parking lot. The third document is the original document explaining the SEED project and was the document city staff presented to the Novato City Council for it's approval. It was approved 4-1 with Pat Eklund dissenting because of the use of Measure F funds for solar. Please attend this meeting, even if you have attended all the others, or it is your first info meeting. We are nearing the finish line on public input on this solar carport fiasco. The meeting for the Solar Carport to go before City Council for voting is tentatively set for Tuesday, June 21. If you know of any neighbor who has not signed this petition, please let them know so they will be kept up to date on changes. Thanks, Tracey Ruiz toruiz@yahoo.com
