Allow Winter Snow Shelters (Tempos) in Ville Saint-Laurent
The Issue
It’s time for a change, temporary car shelters give many people, old and young easier access to their vehicles during the winter months, it’s a shelter from freezing rain, snow storms and hail.
We have many different ages of residents, some younger new families and others that are older and retired. Many have a hard time cleaning their snow while others have snow removal companies that may not always clean adequately.
But the town forbids them. The reason for the ban, as far as anyone is willing to admit, is because they find these structures ugly. I don't see how that is any worse than dirty slushy snow or snow banks throughout the winter season.
The question here is: Does a town overstep its authority when it bans something because it is unsightly?
Enough is Enough, it’s it time for the city of Saint Laurent to realize that Tempos are a necessity for many homes and for many residents. Ones who cannot wait for snow removal companies to eventually show up if ever. It is time to allow residents to put up temporary car shelters for the winter months as many of the surrounding boroughs do (only allowed from October 14th to April 14th ).
Help us drive change by having the city change the bylaw.
