It’s time to save the iconic downtown Medicine Hat Hotel!

As years comes and go, the Assiniboia Hotel downtown stays vacant. The iconic building has a long history in Medicine Hat, and holds many fond memories for the residents in and outside the city.

The building was originally built in 1912 for office space / retail use which was later bought out and renovated / converted into a hotel in 1946.

There are many residents in the community who would like to see this space utilized and restored for multipurpose use. With many residents suggesting apartments, condos, office space, coffee shop, restaurant and bar etc.

I am calling on the City of Medicine Hat and Provincial Government to get the grants / programs / funding rolling to save this heritage building from decay. Either that be a complete overhaul / or preserving the exterior of the building and building new. It’s a major icon in downtown and we need to preserve this heritage building / iconic neon sign doing whatever it takes from the city and the community.
