I was informed this morning by the Council that ordinary mortals such as we can sign the petition to support the traders, as well as the businesses themselves, whose signatures are recorded separately. The officer said that our signatures would strengthen the traders’ case.
So I’d like to invite you to add your name to this Council petition from Roseburn trader George Rendall of Art et Facts, supported by Murrayfield Community Council
www.edinburgh.gov.uk/directory_record/1067131/ccwel_cycle_link_-_small_business_compensation_scheme
The Council must consider the bid once we have got 20 traders to sign, which I believe George and I will have no problem achieving; Haymarket traders are coming on board, now, too.
There have been some teething problems with this petition. It is only the second business petition to ever be lodged with the Council (the first was this one about tattoo parlours) and the very first one that has taken business signatures online. So for the first time since the scheme was set up by the Council in 2012, after some emailing, the Council accepted that its on-line signing form had no way of recording when a business had signed. They’ve now amended it. It’s a civic first!
Once you have signed, please feel free to display this poster in your window www.kidsnotsuits.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Ive-Signed.pdf
Best wishes
