Dear Petition Signer,

Since George’s petition has raised 28 business signatures, his call for a CCWEL Small Business Compensation Scheme will be heard at Transport Committee at 10am on Thurs 28th Feb, when he addresses the Councillors.

The only chance we have of being taken seriously is if we all (ie traders and customers) lobby our ward Councillors. In Roseburn there are  two Cllrs on the Transport Committee (Cllrs Gloyer and Douglas) and for Haymarket traders there is one (Cllr Doran, Vice Convener). It will really help making the effort to see these Cllrs, if you can, as well as emailing them.  The other key players are at www.tinyurl.com/trackmustpay . I know that Cllr Douglas supports what we do. Wherever you live, emailing your 3 Cllrs will help.

Urgent action is required; each political party will come to a view regarding support a couple of days before the meeting and the Cllrs will be whipped to vote according to the group view.

I have had 2,000 flyers printed using the image above and have distributed them around traders at Roseburn and Haymarket. If you would like some, please let me know  by emailing postmaster@roseburn32.plus.com.

To see how to contact the politicians, the attached flyer has clickable links. You can also go to www.tinyurl.com/trackmustpay  Please email me on 0758 472 2191 if you have any queries.

I sent a press release out, but the only coverage so far has been the Murrayfield Grapevine and Radio Forth. A great way to get public support is to write a letter to the Evening News. Please do one if you can, send it to letters_en@edinburghnews.com and if you include your address and phone number, they may use it. All Councillors read the Evening News every day and have staff who clip out relevant letters for them. The Evening News is read by 35,000 people in print plus lots more on-line; it’s a great tool to promote this bid to the Council. Let me know if your letter gets published.

Note that the flyer calls the rally for the 28th Feb. The Council say the meeting to discuss the proposal may be moved to Tues 5th March; I have appealed to them to reconsider.

Best wishes
