Fire Tom Herman
The Issue
The year is 2016. Charlie Strong is fired and in comes Tom Herman from The University of Houston.
The questions inevitably arise.
Can the Longhorns return to their days of being a prestigious football program? Could Tom Herman be the one to take us to the promise land? A CFP appearance? Maybe a Big 12 Title?
The year is now 2020. And it seems like Tom Herman still hasn't learned from his 2014 strip club scandal because he's still getting F*****.
Here's a short timeline of the program under Herman:
- Herman infamous mocks a Missouri QB like a grown child.
- 2017: 7-6 Record. Losses to Maryland, USC, OU, OK State, TCU, Texas Tech. Conference Champ: Oklahoma
- 2018: 10-4 Record. Losses to Maryland, OK State, West Virginia, Oklahoma. Conference Champ: Oklahoma + "We're baaaaaaaack"
- 2019: 8-5 Record. Losses to LSU, OU, TCU, Iowa State, Baylor. 5-star Wide Receiver Bru McCoy commits, then de-commits from the program. Conference Champ: Oklahoma
- 2020: During one of the University's easiest paths to the CFB with an all-Big 12 schedule (w/o UTEP), the Longhorns currently sit at a 5-3 record with losses to TCU, OU, & Iowa State (despite having 3 weeks to prepare).
- The #1 QB in the 2022 class de-commits from Texas & many other 4/5-star recruits are reportedly swaying away from initial interest in Texas. Conference Champ: Probably Oklahoma
Lincoln Riley's W/L Record since 2017 is 42-8 (.840 win %) with three CFP appearances, with the program currently looking to Six-Peat as Big 12 Champs. Herman, on the other hand, has a 30-18 record (.625 win %), has not ever been relatively near to commence a CFP bid, and out of five head-to-head games against OU, has only won once. There's a reason OU fans like @john_boomer1990 want us to keep Tom Herman. Tom Herman is Lincoln Riley's punching bag.
On the topic of statistics, under Herman, the Longhorns are 14-12 in games decided by 7 points or less. Herman doesn't has Covid, but has continuously been allergic to blowing teams out - despite having a top-10 recruited roster.
Needless to say, Tom Herman's tenure at UT has been nothing short of mediocre and has had a direct affect towards prospective recruits, national rankings, conference contention, bowl-game consideration, team morale, school pride, & the mental health of its students & fans.
Please join me in signing this petition to finally bring forth much needed change for our program.
Nobody deserves to receive back-to-back losses against Maryland. Nobody.
