Allow seasonal liquor licenses to participate in The Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Allow seasonal liquor licenses to participate in The Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The Issue
We, the residents of District 30 including (but not limited to) the towns of Belmar, Avon-by-the-sea, Bradley Beach, Asbury Park, Spring Lake, and Manasquan, as well as residents from other areas in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, are in favor of allowing the seasonal liquor licenses to open as of March 1. The extension will provide approximately 150 employees with eight extra weeks of work, rather than the abbreviating of the work year that they have been accustomed to for the past 3 years. It also allows those establishments to participate in Belmar’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Eight of the nine seasonal licenses are within a five mile radius of Belmar, and 4 are within Belmar. There are currently only two actively operating liquor licenses in town, and we believe that opening all seasonal licensed establishments, rather than two, will only assist with the estimated 60,000 attendees expected for this year. With so many people in town, Belmar and ALL of its’ establishments (restaurants, bars, retail stores, real estate agencies, etc.) have the opportunity to attract new business, engage it's residents and forge relationships that would allow Belmar to thrive. It would be doing the town in it’s entirety a disservice to not maximize such attractions
