Children & Youths

Children & Youths
The Issue
The child to any individual is a blessing from God and not a burden, and that child need to be protected from any physical or emotionally abused pr neglect. In kom every child is every once child, they do concern things ignorantly, like sending their children to schools, giving health care without boarders to all the children in the house.
But in most of the families the girl child ends her education after the primary school and gets her husband and married and becomes responsible for her own self, her husband and the children that she will be delivering. What if the husband doesn't come?
Most of such girl goes on sex business when they are looking for men to seen if they can find the one that will best meet their desire.
This is as a result of lack of jobs for youths and children.
The government of our country makes good laws but poor implementation hence children grow up in fear of the uncertainty. School drop out go on the streets as street beggars, prostitutes, thieves and even return with unwanted pregnancies some even with HIV/AIDS and end up to die at a tender age or even die with the baby in the stomach ( maternal death).
Worse still, parents traumatize their children and adult children's emotions feeling that they are doing well for the children towards their future because they are doing things they never did at their teenage. What happen in the past, parents wants to past it onto their children, they ware shy and depend on their parents most. They never had the opportunity to choose their wives themselves. This can only be prevented through education and door to door sensitization.
There is multiplication of unwanted pregnancies, child abuse/neglect, child exploitation, triple increase of school drop out amongst children and Youths nowadays in Kom (Boyo).
The saddest thing is that most children in kom do not go to school because their parents never went to school sent by their own parents. Women still cannot continue education because their parents want to get back the bride price they paid on their mothers.
Most, the always ask for the girl child to look for her husband so that they can come and pay what he paid on her own mother.
This means girls are forced to look for their husbands by parents. Could you be of assistance to this young people our doors are open.
