Many students found OCR Chemistry Paper 2  difficult due to the high number of unfamiliar application-style questions such as the benzene mechanism and the amount of problem-solving required. Several questions appeared significantly more challenging than those found in past papers, making it difficult for students to demonstrate their knowledge within the time limit. In the past for the 2023 paper which was much easier, the grade boundaries were extreamly lower than compared to 2025. This is not fair, the grade boundary is only getting higher year by year but how is a 18 year old expected to know so much. As a result, there are concerns that the paper did not accurately reflect students’ understanding of the course and may have negatively affected overall performance.
