Creating homelessness should be a crime, evictions should be monitored by social services

Creating homelessness should be a crime, evictions should be monitored by social services
The Issue
My family and I are Homeless for the Holidays, even though we are supposedly protected by The Cares Act, our Hardship Declaration, A state-wide Moratorium, the Tenant Safe Harbor Act, and an APPROVED Emergency Rental Assistance Program. We were evicted by a town constable, not the Sherriff or Marshall and we were threatened with a gun, badge, and crowbar, which is on video. The town constable broke through the glass, frightening everyone, accompanied by our landlord and five peace officers, while we begged them to recognize our protective acts, which were totally ignored. We've been homeless since December 4th, 2021, evicted on a Saturday, also illegal. We believe the judge, attorney, legal aid, and landlords, should be required to work with Social Services, preventing homelessness, allowing social services to step in prior to the landlord being allowed to evict. Social services should represent tenants, give them funding, resources, and overall help, eliminating homelessness at the hands of underqualified judges, untrained officers, unmotivated legal aid attorneys, and heartless landlords. We believe causing homelessness should be illegal, to any party who allowed it to become. Especially considering not one of the dozen parties involved in our homelessness know the laws we now know. We are not criminals, we ran out of money, running a 501c3 Nonprofit organization supporting Cancer Warriors. Our business relied on donations, which plummeted due to Covid and from the horrible slanderous, harassing, and criminal intent caused by our landlords. Within 48 hours of our illegal removal, our landlord's changed the locks, turned off our utilities, and moved our belongings into a barn, and threw our pets into a kennel that we cannot afford. We were told by ERAP to move back into our house, but our landlord's son has moved in. We live in a hotel, with two boys aged 8 and 4, who are experiencing Christmas on borrowed pillows and donated toys. This is ridiculous, our leaders have absolutely abandoned us, all under the danger of a spreading pandemic. If Social services were contacted, we wouldn't be here, unfortunately the judge and landlords have no respect of the laws designed to keep us from becoming homeless. Please hear our plea, please come to our rescue, protect others I've spoken with that are days away from.this same judge, same town, same complacent law enforcement, who can do nothing to restore our home. This needs to be fixed, we believe this will end homelessness, especially for families with children. Thank you for all your support.
