The issue

My son was severely assaulted, leaving him unconscious and unable to identify who actually caused his severe injuries.  Despite the severity of the crime, video evidence of the 7 perpetrators directly prior to the assault and witness identification and a significant prior history of violent attacks on innocents by one of the accused, the perpetrators walked free with all charges dropped and absolutely no consequences for the damage they caused.

A decision was made behind closed doors by lawyers and the police prosecutors to drop all 13-15 charges against the offenders.

We are calling on lawmakers to amend current legislation to better support the rights of victims. This includes implementing laws that allow for all charges that proceed to court to be presented directly to a magistrate in open court to make the decision whether to move forward or not.  That victims are involved in this process.

Additionally, we urge for the creation of a dedicated office or authority to uphold and advocate for victims rights within the court system and appear on behalf of victims in these matters.

This is not just about justice for my son; it is about ensuring every victim has the opportunity to have their voice heard, even when they cannot speak for themselves. Let's build a justice system that prioritizes healing and justice for victims, ensuring offenders are held accountable for their actions.

Please sign this petition to urge lawmakers to protect the rights of victims and ensure that justice truly serves them.
