The Issue

Before the pandemic, my family and I cherished our holidays. Every trip was filled with moments, memories, and maximum time at the destination. However, since COVID-19, hotels and accommodations worldwide have shifted their check-in and check-out practices. I believe the public is losing valuable holiday time due to the current scheduling trends.

Prior to the pandemic, standard check-in times were around 2 PM, with check-out times at 12 PM. These hours allowed travelers to enjoy their destination to the fullest, without the feeling of being rushed or losing a day. Now, many establishments have extended cleaning protocols, resulting in much later check-in times and earlier check-out times. This transition, while initially necessary for health and safety reasons, has come at the cost of our quality holiday experiences.

Imagine arriving at your destination, only to find that check-in is at 4 PM or later. By the time you settle in, much of your first day is lost. Similarly, having an early check-out time means rushing your final morning, often feeling as though you have been shortchanged on your holiday stay.

We understand the importance of health and safety, but now that many restrictions have eased, it's time to revisit and readjust these times to better suit travelers' needs. Restoring pre-COVID check-in and check-out times can be accomplished by:
1. Reevaluating and optimizing cleaning procedures to fit within the standard pre-COVID timeframe without compromising on safety.
2. Exploring ways to enhance cleaning efficiency with advanced tools and techniques.
3. Communicating openly with guests about potential check-in delays only when necessary, rather than as a standard practice.

If we take action now, we can appeal to hotel chains and independent accommodations to reconsider their check-in and check-out policies, ensuring both safety and enhanced guest satisfaction.

Join me in making our holidays as fulfilling as they once were. Your signature on this petition could restore those cherished hours we all miss. Let's make a positive change for travelers everywhere.
