President Obama has questioned the validity of "Don't ask, don't tell" and many retired officers agree with him. But Lt. Daniel Choi, an Iraq combat veteran with a degree in Arabic, was discharged because he declared his sexual orientation.  "Don't ask, don't tell" has caused the discharge of thousands of qualified, experienced enlisted personnel and officers. It is time for President Obama to keep his campaign promise to allow gay and lesbian soldiers to serve openly in the military; by changing "don't ask, don't tell" policy, to don't ask, it's ok to tell.
