Change Barnes Station from Zone 3 to Zone 2/3

Change Barnes Station from Zone 3 to Zone 2/3
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are petitioning for a change in the fare zone classification for Barnes Station. We believe that moving Barnes Station from Zone 3 to Zone 2/3 would alleviate pressure on local buses, particularly those serving Putney Station, and improve overall accessibility for commuters in the area.
Background:
Currently, Barnes Station is situated in Zone 3 of the London fare zones, which means that people from Roehampton don’t use it for commuting to central London. That means that of the four buses leaving Roehampton for railway stations in the morning, in practice only two, those going to Putney, are used by commuters to central London, and this leads to overcrowding
The current zone system does not reflect the reality that it is a key station for Roehampton, which is itself part of Inner London, nor does it account for the growing demand for public transport in the region.
Conclusion:
Changing Barnes Station’s fare zone from Zone 3 to Zone 2/3 would alleviate congestion on bus routes serving Roehampton and improve accessibility for commuters. This change would not only benefit current residents but would also enhance the quality of life for future commuters, making public transport a more viable and attractive option.
We urge relevant authorities to take steps to effect this change.
