Save the Strathpine Handmade Expo

Save the Strathpine Handmade Expo
The issue
On Wednesday the 8/09/2021, we got the shocking news that the Handmade Expo within the Strathpine Centre (just across from Target) has been given its notice to leave the centre after 3 years.
There have been many conversations between the business owner and Centre Management to try and keep the space - even offering a 5 year permanent lease! But it has all fallen on deaf ears.
So now I’m asking you, the public to help save this brilliant shop.
Why save The Handmade Expo??
The Handmade Expo supports 85 small family businesses. You read that correctly. 85!
Whether these people are retirees, or parents utilising and sharing their creations with us whilst staying at home with young children, there is something for everyone in store.
Whether it’s Grandmas favourite homemade fudge, or gloriously unique handmade handbags or earrings. Bows to spruce up your child’s outfit, or the glorious woodwork and craftsmanship of some of the stalls, the talent is insurmountable.
This doesn’t even scratch the surface!
We have; jewellery makers, handmade clothing, crochet creations, sun catchers, bows, handbags and faux silk flowers that will knock your socks off. Stalls for the sweet tooth and even remedies if you’re experiencing aches and pains; the lavender eye pillows are divine! (Just saying) If your shopping for Birthdays, Baby Showers, Christenings or Christmas or just because you can, the store has something for you!
The fact that this store allows these ordinary people, just like you and me, the chance to showcase their work and earn some money and do what they love, how are they going to do this now?
The world has been such a harsh place this day and age and we have proven that time and time again, we need to stick together to get through.
We don’t need another fast fashion outlet store.
We need to support our local small businesses. Don’t take this away from them! 85 families. They deserve better than this. We have limited time to get as many signatures as possible as they have been asked to vacate by 30/09/21.
I urge you to please SIGN and SHARE this petition to show just how much our little voices matter.
