Change the uniform policy to allow for the Kardinia International College Cap.

Change the uniform policy to allow for the Kardinia International College Cap.
The issue
Dear Mr. Geoffrey Woolard, Ms. Catherine Lockhart, and the Kardinia International College Leadership Team.
We, the Students of Kardinia International College, put forward this petition regarding a change in uniform policy that was instated that the beginning of term 4 2019. This change stated that the only acceptable hats were the broad-brimmed maroon hat with KIC Logo. This removed the ability for students to where the KIC Cap when a hat was required. We petition the board to review this change so the KIC Cap is now an acceptable hat.
We, the students, believe that this change was not called for, and is an expense to families.
There are approximately 1,308 senior school students (as of the 6/10/2019) and 72 Junior school students who are eligible to wear the college cap. Most of which, already own one. Close to all of these students will need to purchase a college broad-brimmed hat. The broad-brimmed hat costs $12.95. If all 1,308 senior school students purchased a new hat, it would total at 16,938.60. This is simply outrageous!
Students are only exposed to approximately 70 minutes of the sun during school time, an additional 100 minutes is added for year 7-10s for Tuesday/Wednesday sport. Students are provided with many ways to protect themselves from the sun, including Sunscreen, which is provided every for every sports session, and shelter, which the majority of students use and seek.
Finally, The Broad-Brimmed hat will not be used during students' Health and Physical Education classes, where caps are required. This means that students will need to own both hats, costing $25 for every new year 7 student. If we welcome 150 new students every year, this equates to $3750 per year.
We believe that the broad-brimmed hats are unnecessary, and students should be allowed to wear the KIC Cap when a hat is required.
This Petition has been put together with regards to the Kardinia International Complaints and Grievance Policy (Approved June 2017). We expect that under section 2.2 of said policy, that you treat every complainant with confidentiality. As this is an issue that concerns the entirety of the college, we have not notified the Tutor Teachers or House leaders of the college.
