Grant Students at CASS a 24Hr window to submit exams this January
The Issue
We the students of (formerly)Cass Business school believe we should be granted a 24hr window to submit and deal with each of our exams this January. This comes following news that universities around the country are granting this to their students, and that courses within city university are doing the same as well as postponing some assessments. We do not believe it is fair to expect all students around the world to be able to complete exams at the time given in the short time frame, especially considering the global situation with regards to COVID-19 affecting peoples access to resources. This follows on from our exam results from year 1 being nullified which therefore causes our year 2 exams to be more important than before. This paired with the difficult conditions means that we are being unfairly subjected to potential issues and results that will affect our degree, our careers and our lives in a way that we believe should not happen. Furthermore, a large proportion of students are international and will be situated out of the UK during exam period, which further contrast the difference between universities that are populated with a larger proportion of UK residents who are being granted a 24hr window. These international students will be taking these exams around 7-10pm at night. The disparity that this will create between us and an entire generation of graduates is especially unfair when considering the fees for the service and access to learning facilities. Additionally, the Business School pride themselves in being diverse and a large amount of international students. It is extremely negligent of the institution to disregard the adverse effect this will have on the students’ health.
