Create a cycle path connecting the new Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, Ffairfach, to Llandeilo and elsewhere.
The Issue
This will encourage many children to cycle to school, which will have benefits on their health, performance, air pollution and traffic. There is plenty of evidence to support the argument that encouraging children to cycle and walk to school improves their learning ability and behaviour, counteracts obesity, reduces local air-pollution and sets up great habits for the rest of their lives.
An FOI reply reveals that there is not even to be pavement access to the school on the road, meaning it will be unsafe for children to walk to school. This is out of keeping with the idea of "21st century schools". They have simply not bothered to consider better walking and cycling to and from the school as part of the scheme, which is negligent to the extreme. What they can still do is to purchase the rest of the old railway line going to the main road, providing a link to the A483 to create a walking and cycle path into the school grounds.
