Education is a fundamental right, and access to affordable student housing is critical to achieving this. We urge educational institutions, landlords, and housing providers to recognise the impact these fees have on students. Removing these fees can relieve a significant financial burden and make higher education more accessible, inclusive, and equitable for all.

We advocate for transparent and fair pricing policies for student accommodations. Institutions should only charge necessary fees that directly contribute to the maintenance and development of the facilities, and not those that serve merely to inflate costs.

To make this change, we call on government bodies, educational institutions, and housing authorities to implement regulations banning these excessive fees. Alternative funding and pricing models should be adopted to ensure that student housing remains affordable.
