Bambi Kindergarten was established in 1952 at Steven’s Rd, Ingleburn, as a part of the Bardia Barracks Military Camp. Bambi was created by the wives of the military personnel as a not-for-profit organisation run by community volunteers. Bambi continues to be ‘Community’ run to this day.
Bambi remained at the Steven’s Rd location for 65 years, at the conclusion of 2017 Bambi was relocated to Arthur Allen Drive, Bardia. Bambi was relocated to make way for a shopping complex and high density housing units. The new premises at Arthur Allen Drive, was built by Urban Growth as a part of their application to develop Bardia. The total build cost of $1.5M was paid for by Urban Growth and at zero cost to Campbelltown Council.
In 2012, Bambi Kindergarten and Campbelltown Council entered into good faith long term, nominal rental, verbal lease negotiations to enable the transition of Bambi’s long history and care for children in the area to continue at a new location.
In late 2016, Campbelltown Council advised that long term nominal lease negotiations would cease and the lease for the purpose built Bambi Kindergarten, intended to be gifted to Council by Urban Growth at the end of 2018, would be put to public tender.
We are requesting Campbelltown City Council honour their original good faith negotiations with Kindergarten management. We ask Campbelltown Council to offer a nominal rental agreement over for 21 years, to ensure that Bambi Kindergarten continues to service the Bardia community and beyond.
