This is a call to European countries and the US to hold the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for the recent kidnapping and murder of Ruhollah Zam. We wish for all the countries in the EU, Great Britain, and the United States to hold back any future negotiations and co-operation with Iran as long as the government refuses to abide by the international human rights laws. Iranian people call for an end to death sentences and imprisonment of political activists and peaceful protestors.

Ruhollah Zam worked as a journalist for an Iranian newspaper before he was arrested during the protests of 2010. He was tortured, then released. He then left the country legally and moved to France, where he continued to live with his wife and 2 daughters. While living in France, he administered a Telegram news channel called AmadNews and continued to work as a journalist. His channel focused mainly on exposing corruption within the IRI. Exposing money laundering and corruption within the Iranian judicial system and revealing documents related to Saeed Toosi are among his most notable works. Saeed Toosi is a prominent Quran reciter and teacher of the Quran. He is linked with several high-ranking figures within the Iranian regime, including the supreme leader himself. Toosi is accused of exploiting and sexually abusing 19 of the teenage boys under his training(4 were confirmed).

In October 2019, Zam went missing after landing in Iraq while traveling to Iraq for work purposes. After 2 days, Iranian television announced his arrest. He was found guilty of "corruption on earth" and was sentenced to death on 30th June 2020. He was executed by hanging on 12th December, just days after the court denied his appeal.

Corruption on earth is a vague term used by the Iranian judicial system for charging those who oppose it. This term describes a series of crimes against the regime, and therefore the Islamic Republic is the plaintiff. When the government is the plaintiff in a case of "corruption on earth", many of the charges against the defender are allegations for which the government does not need to provide any concrete evidence because the government's words are taken as facts unless the defender can conclusively prove otherwise. 

Zam's execution has been followed by a wave of objections from the Iranian people, journalists worldwide, the UN, and politicians in many countries in the EU and the US. However, condemnation rarely has any effect in these situations.

Currently, there are many other activists and protestors in prison. The court has given 3 of them the death penalty. Amirhossein Moradi, Saeed Tamjidi, Mohammad Rajabi. Currently, the court is considering their appeal. Their crime is peacefully protesting against the country's current economic state in the protests of October 2019. Ahmadreza Jalali, an Iranian-Swedish scientist, was invited to Iran by 2 universities to participate in a workshop. He was arrested upon arrival, tried without a lawyer, and now faces a death sentence. These are only a few of the prisoners currently on death row with accusations of treason and conspiring against the regime, while all they have done is participate in peaceful protests against the country's current economic state or simply have a dual-citizenship.

Executing any journalist anywhere, especially without a fair trial, is a massive violation of freedom of expression and a way for authoritarian governments to showcase their power to strike fear in the heart of their people. As long as Zam's execution, and the many executions before him, are not met with anything but a series of angry tweets, there will be many more to come. We, the people of Iran, want to share our disproof of any foreign country co-operating and improving relations with the IRI before the safety of peaceful protestors, political prisoners, journalists, and political activists is ensured and before issuing death sentences for political crimes is STOPPED. We are aware that many countries are currently considering renegotiations with Iran, mainly regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal. However, by entering into any agreement or accord with the IRI under such circumstances, you will only be legitimizing and thus encouraging these violent violations of human rights. Therefore, we strongly urge the participating countries to side with humanity and the people of Iran, not the Iranian government. 

The Islamic Republic of Iran can not pressure foreign governments into co-operation by executing protesters and political activists. Don't let the death of another human rights activist be in vain. 

این دادخواستی است از کشورهای اروپایی و ایالات متحده تا جمهوری اسلامی ایران را برای ربودن و قتل روح الله زم پاسخگو بدارند. ما از همه کشورهای اتحادیه اروپا ، انگلیس و ایالات متحده خواستار هستیم که از هرگونه مذاکره و همکاری با ایران، تا زمانی که دولت ایران از قوانین بین المللی حقوق بشر پیروی نمیکند، پیشگیری کنند. مردم ایران خواستار پایان دادن به صدور احكام اعدام و حبس بدون شواهد فعالان سیاسی و معترضان مسالمت آمیز هستند

روح الله زم  خبرنگاری بود که با یک سایت خبری در ایران همکاری میکرد، تا اینکه بعد از شلوغی های سال ۸۸ مجبور به ترک کشور شد. او سرانجام در فرانسه مستقر شد و تا سال ۱۳۹۸ در آنجا با همسر و دو دخترش زندگی میکرد. در طول این مدت، وی کانال خبری آمدنیوز را در تلگرام راه اندازی کرد. تمرکز این کانال بیشتر به روی افشای فساد در دولت جمهوری اسلامی بود. فساد هایی مانند فساد مالی گسترده در قوه قضاییه  و اتهامات سعید طوسی

در مهر ماه ۱۳۹۸، زم بعد از فرود به بغداد ناپدید شد. وی برای قراری کاری عازم بغداد شده بود. ۲ روز بعد از گم شدن در عراق، تصویراو با دست‌بند در تلویزیون ایران پخش شد. اومتهم به "افساد فی‌الارض" و جاسوسی برای آمریکا و اسرائیل شده بود. زم در روز ۲۲ آذر، تنها چند روز پس از تایید حکمش، پای چوبه‌ی دار برده شد

اعدام روح‌الله زم با موجی از اعتراضات داخلی و خارجی همراه بوده است. بسیاری از مردم ایران، خبرنگاران، سازمان ملل متحده، و سیاست مدارانی از کشورهای مختلف این اقدام غیر انسانی را محکوم کردند. اما واقعیت این است که در این چنین شرایطی تنها بیان اعتراض کافی نیست

در حال حاضر، تعداد زیادی از معترضان آبان ۹۸ و فعالان مدنی در زندان به سر می‌برند. ۳ نفر از آنها که در طی چند ماه گذشته حکم اعدام آنها صادر شده امیرحسین مرادی، سعید تمجیدی و محمد رجبی نام دارند. پرونده ی آنها در حال حاضر برای تجدید نظر در دست بررسی است. جرم آنها اعتراضات مسالمت آمیز در آبان ۹۸ بوده است. ولی هر گونه معترضی صاحب برچسب همکاری با آمریکا و اسرائیل میشود. احمدرضا جلالی، یک دکتر ایرانی- سوئدی است که توسط دانشگاه تهران و دانشگاه شیراز برای شرکت در کارگاهی به ایران دعوت شده بود. او پس از ورود به ایران بازداشت شد، بدون حضور وکیل محاکمه شد و در حال حاضر در خط اعدام است. این اسامی تنها تعدادی از زندانیانی است که در حال حاضر به اتهام خیانت و توطئه علیه رژیم در معرض اعدام هستند، در حالی که تمام آنچه آنها انجام داده اند شرکت در تظاهرات مسالمت آمیز علیه وضعیت اقتصادی کشور یا تنها فقط داشتن تابعیت مضاعف است

اعدام یک خبرنگار، خصوصا بدون یک محاکمه عادلانه، در هرکجای دنیا تجاوزی بزرگ به حق آزادی بیان است و راهی‌ است برای دولت های اقتدارگرا تا قدرت خود را برای ایجاد ترس در قلب مردم خود به نمایش بگذارند. تا زمانی که اعدام روح‌الله زم، و اعدام های قبل تر از آن، با هیچ بازتابی جز چند توئیت خشمناک مواجه نشوند، اعدام های بسیار دیگری در راه خواهند بود. ما، مردم ایران، تا زمانی که جمهوری اسلامی امنیت معترضان مسالمت آمیز، زندانیان سیاسی، خبرنگاران، و فعالان مدنی را تضمین نکند، و تا قبل از اینکه صدور احکام اعدام برای زندانیان سیاسی، معترض هر گونه همکاری و بهبود روابط بین ایران و هر کشور دیگر هستیم. ما متوجه این هستیم که در حال حاضر کشور های متعددی علاقمند هستند تا مذاکرات هسته‌ای ایران را از سر بگیرند. اما با وارد شدن به هر توافق یا قراردادی با جمهوری اسلامی ایران تحت شرایط کنونی تهنا به این نقض های فاحش حقوق بشر در ایران مشروعیت میبخشد و منجر به ترغیب آن میشود. بنابراین ، ما قاطعا از کشورهای شرکت کننده در ای مذاکرات خواستار این هستیم که با کنار بشریت و مردم ایران بایستند، نه با دولت ایران

ایران با اعدام معترضین و فعالان سیاسی نمی‌تواند دولت های خارجی را برای توافق و رفع تحریم ها تحت فشار قرار دهد. نباید گذاشت تا مرگ یک فعال حقوق بشر دیگر نیز بیهوده باشد
