The embargo against Cuba has been in place since 1960 and for 50 years has failed to achieve what it set out to do: bring democracy to Cuba. But despite its failure, a revision of the embargo has yet to be brought to the Congress floor. 

Not discussing it gets us nowhere. Whether you believe that changes in Cuba must come first before economic sanctions are lifted, or the opposite, that lifting economic sanctions will help to bring democracy to Cuba, new legislation that does fulfill its aims is needed. 

For change, any change, to be brought to US-Cuban relations and the economics and politics of Cuba, a conversation must exist first. That is what this petition calls for.
