Call for Transparency: Investigate Atmospheric Intervention & South Coast SA Algal bloom
The issue
Description:
Over the past few weeks, the South Coast of South Australia has seen alarming changes, including a toxic microalgal bloom, mass marine life deaths, distressed sea lions, and even the death of kangaroos along the coast. These events have been officially linked to warmer sea temperatures and natural algae, but critical questions remain unanswered.
What substances are in our waters? What environmental factors are contributing to these events?
One significant and often overlooked factor is cloud seeding, a legitimate weather modification technique used worldwide. This practice involves dispersing substances like silver iodide, aluminium oxide, and other metallic particles into the atmosphere to influence rainfall. These substances can fall into our oceans and land, potentially harming marine life and disrupting ecosystems.
Given the serious environmental symptoms we are seeing, we must demand transparency about what is happening in our atmosphere and oceans. It’s vital to know whether aerosol dispersals, cloud seeding, or any other atmospheric interventions have contributed to the environmental stress on our coastline.
We are calling on local and state authorities (Legislative Assembly) to:
Release all water and sea foam test results from the algal bloom event,
Clarify what substances were tested for (including metals, toxins, and particulates),
Provide transparency on any cloud seeding or aerosol dispersal activities that could be affecting our coastal environment.
It is of increasing public and environmental concern regarding the use of cloud seeding and atmospheric aerosol dispersal programs — particularly their potential long-term impacts on our coastal and marine ecosystems here in South Australia.
While these topics are often misunderstood or misrepresented, it is important to acknowledge that cloud seeding is a legitimate, documented practice, implemented by both government and private entities globally. It is routinely used to influence weather patterns, increase rainfall, or reduce hail damage, and has been conducted in parts of Australia, including Tasmania, Victoria, and New South Wales.
However, public awareness and transparency regarding the materials used, frequency, and environmental monitoring of these programs remain extremely limited.
If cloud seeding or geo engineering isn’t being transparently reported in SA and the Pacific, how do we investigate or regulate the fallout?
That’s the main reason I have created this petition.
No global regulatory body oversees atmospheric modification consistently.
Many programs are private, defense-linked, or non-transparent.
Environmental assessments are rare and data is often siloed or classified.
Citizen scientists often lack the tools, funding, or legal standing to demand data.
What do we hope to achieve from your help signing this petition?
We demand:
Local and state authorities
1) immediately release to the public all environmental testing results related to the recent algal bloom and marine life deaths — including sea foam, water, and biological samples.
2) A full list of chemicals or compounds tested for, including metals (aluminium, barium, titanium etc) synthetic particles, abnormal particulates, toxins, and microbial anomalies.
3) Transparency around any atmospheric intervention, or aerosol dispersal operations conducted in or near South Australian airspace or the broader Pacific region.
4) A commitment to independent, ongoing environmental monitoring for atmospheric particulates entering our soil and waterways via rainfall.
5) Encourage independent environmental sampling: Testing rainwater, soils, and ocean surface layers for aluminium, barium, titanium etc.
This is not about fear or speculation. It’s about science, accountability, and the right to environmental information. If we want to protect our coastlines, fisheries, wildlife, and health — we need truth and data.
Engage academic researchers: Universities might be willing to investigate if there's local data and concern?
If it can gain enough support, I can bring it to our premier and legislative assembly.
And just to clarify I’m not saying there is a definite link between cloud seeding and the algal blooms, simply pushing for transparency of information and proper monitoring of potential causes of ecosystem disruption - in this case being investigation into atmospheric intervention.
Don’t we all have a right to know?
If you believe in the need for full transparency and want to ensure our environment is protected from any hidden environmental risks, sign this petition. It’s time we understand the full scope of what’s happening to our coast.
