We'd like to invite all lovers of the Kern River to participate in Bring Back the Kern's project: "A River Remembered," a collective memory project meant to document our stories and experiences of a river in Bakersfield. 

Participants will be entered into a raffle drawing for some amazing prizes that heavily feature experiences on or near our river. See below for more details:

• What is "A River Remembered?" 
  • Lasting through the end of July, send in your memory photos (they can be recent or very old) and accompanying stories of a flowing river in Bakersfield. Submissions will be compiled and presented in both a virtual and physical gallery, launching in early September, so that all members of the community can enjoy viewing other's memory submissions. Select submissions will also be posted on Bring Back the Kern's social media page. By sending in an image or video, you are consenting to it being used in this way.
• Why this project? 
  • Tapping into our community's collective memory of times when the river was flowing and of people enjoying the river's beauty, wildlife, and recreational properties is meant to inspire us to envision a future where a flowing river isn't a rare occurrence, but is a standard feature of living in Bakersfield.
• How do I contribute?
  • To submit an entry, email your picture or video with a brief description of the memory to contact@bringbackthekern.org, using the subject line "A River Remembered." While we appreciate beautiful photos, this isn't a photography competition, so any memory photo will be appreciated (a flowing river, wildlife, family/friends/pets enjoying the river, etc.)
• What are the raffle prizes? 
  • Each participant will be entered into a raffle drawing for over $500 in prizes, including: 
    • 1/2 day outing for 2 people with Whitewater Voyages on the lower Kern
    • 3 rafting experiences plus t-shirts for 2 people with River's End Rafting
    • Guided 3 hour fly-fishing outing on the river with Kern Anglers
    • Free bike rental from Bakersfield Bike Rentals
    • Gift certificate from Locale Farm to Table
