Bring Back the Kern hosted an incredibly successful trash cleanup at San Miguel Grove this past Saturday, with over a hundred volunteers and almost 150 cubic yards of trash removed. Thanks to all who came out! See news TV coverage of the event here and newspaper coverage here.

There are two other ongoing Bring Back the Kern projects that we need your help with. Please do what you can to support and share the word about these projects to make sure that more members of our community can connect with Bring Back the Kern and join the movement.

• Support "The Mighty Kern River" children's book collaboration. Preorder your own copy of this book that celebrates the Kern River while also challenging the status quo of a dry river. There are many other award levels for those who are interested in supporting at a higher level or at lower levels. This is an all or nothing campaign, so we need to help raise $6,500 during the next month to pay for the first printing
• Show that you are "Thirsty for a River" by buying local beer that speaks to Bakersfield's need of a flowing river. 7 local breweries are releasing beers with complementary beer styles and names related to Bring Back the Kern. Be some of the first to visit these breweries or the 5 restaurants/taprooms hosting tap takeovers and you can get a free "Bring Back the Kern" pint glass or a "Bring Back the Kern" bumper sticker. Supplies are limited so be sure to visit before the beers and glasses run out.
